Congo First half, 20th century Mix of natural fibers (raffia, rattan?) and multiple basketry techniques 13 ½” x 9 x 7½ (34 x 23 x 19 cm) A beautiful patina and sheen enhance this basketry container which was elaborately constructed using several different weaving techniques. A particularly unusual patterned strap attaches to the rigid rim of the base, arching over a lid with a similar geometric design that also fits into the container rather than over it.
