Ceremonial Spatula / Dagger Abelam Peoples, Eastern Sepik River, Papua New Guinea Cassowary bone, shell and dogs teeth Early 20th century 12.5” (32 cm) tall New Guinea bone daggers were used as weapons, tools, and prestige items. This one is unusual with two shell bells attached to the top that make a nice sound when the piece is held. The carving is well done, and the entire piece shows a lot of age and use with a good patina. Previously sold by Michael Hamson. $1250
