Gope Board Papuan Gulf, New Guinea Wood with white kaolin Early 20th century 31” (79 cm) tall by 11.5” (29 cm) wide A fine old Gope spirit board probably form the Elema peoples, but possibly from Urama Island. I found related examples from both areas. All natural pigments with good wear and patina from age and use. There is a crack on the back side that has some fill and color restoration. Previously in the collection of Wayne Heathcote. SOLD
