Buddhist Temple Flowers Japan Meiji Period (1868-1912) Gold lacquered wood Dimensions: range from 35.75 in. high (including stand) to 15.75 in. high These hand-carved lotus blossoms represent the Buddha and were used to decorate Buddhist altars. The lotus flowers are carved in the different stages of enlightenment and evoke many qualities of a Buddha – beauty, compassion, and contemplation, to name a few. The flower stems are attached to matching steel posts. Turning the individual stems arranges the blossoms into desired groupings. Some restoration. SOLD
